Harper's All-Star Softball, river

Harper's Camas All-Star team had a successful weekend, winning Saturday 12-0 and today 15-1.  Both games were at 9 a.m., and thankfully, called in the 5th.  With the extreme temperatures, we were glad of that, it was 90 degrees when today's game was over at 10:30.

Harper played well, she was walked several times (got a hit today but was out at first).
Rounding third to score.

Their poster, it was on the back of the dugout.

We went straight to the river when we got home.  Harper's coach asked them to stay out of the sun, though, so we didn't stay long.  The water was cold but felt good.
There were a ton of people in the swimming hole, so they stayed away by themselves.
Harper went down the rapids once.

We filled a bucket of water balloons for about 5 minutes of fun in the afternoon heat.

They were in and out of the hot tub later in the day when there was shade.  Even turned down low, it was no relief, but relaxing anyway.  We played a few crazy games of UNO before an early bedtime.
Posing with the Papas after today's game.

Vault, painting, truck washing, Josie

The girls came up Saturday, we went right to the Vault for ice cream.
That night they worked on Father's Day gifts.
Sunday they helped Rielee wash and detail Noah's truck.
Harper gave Papa a Sponge Bob painting she did awhile back, since he likes Sponge Bob as much as they do.
Today Emmy, Laury and Josie stopped by and Emmy tried out the zip line.
Josie with her taco toy, it was in the trunk of her little push car.

Wednesday lunch with the girls

When we picked the girls up to go to lunch today they wanted to show us their new rooms.  Ava took Luke's old room,
and Harper took Lexi's room.  Harper said her room is a cluttered because she needs a desk (it's on her birthday list).
We had a yummy lunch at Red Robin, crummy picture, Ava really was awake.
Then we went to Angel Nails where Harper got a manicure, Ava opted out.  She and Papa went to a nearby Starbucks and got cake pops.
Next stop was Liberty Middle School, where Kelly works in the office.  Ava had never been there and neither had we, except for games.
When we took them back home, I went along as the girls took Oliver for a walk.  Papa stayed with Murphy since he had a sore paw.
Next time we see these kiddos they'll be 7th graders.

Will and Kalyn's housewarming

Sunday was Will and Kalyn's housewarming.  Their house in LaCenter is lovely, warm and homey, with a great backyard.
There was a full house of family and friends.
I found these four in the kitchen snacking on cookies.
Kalyn and her Mom, it was nice meeting her family.

Luke baseball

We watched Luke play baseball today at Ridgefield's sports complex.  His team was having some problems getting any runs in until the 3rd or 4th inning when Luke came up to bat with 2 runners on and hit a double.  He ended up scoring also.  They caught up but lost at the end when a player on the other team hit a grand slam.  But all in all a fun game to watch in a beautiful setting-and no masks.

Josie visit, Rielee district track

I got to babysit Josie Wednesday morning while Laury went to the dentist.  She's so sweet, she even gave bites of her breakfast.
I rocked her to sleep, it was so nice to hold and cuddle her.

She woke up ready to play.

and was all smiles in the swing.
The district track meet was at McKenzie Stadium.  It was really warm out but thankfully they had tents set up by the pole vault for the kids.  Rielee took third with a jump of 9'6" and opted out of other events due to her thigh injury.

Badminton goats

Saturday we made sugar cookies, the girls got creative and free-handed a flamingo and unicorn.
We had a fun weekend with them, they spent lots of time in the hot tub, turned down low so it felt good.
We spent lots of time outside in the warm weather, they also asked to go to the playgrounds in town, where they found they were too tall for some of the rings and had to go for the top of the support beam instead.

Sunday visit to Sweet Spot
They played badminton until dark Sunday night, and had the funniest thing happen.  Papa jokingly told them to make the goat sounds like Rielee made last week when they were playing, so they did-and here came the neighbor's goats running across the driveway towards us!  The girls and I were kind of freaked out at first, but Papa calmly said "let's walk them back home"
and they just walked with us and went right back in their pen.  They had escaped through the bottom of their gate, which had not been properly tied shut.
