Beach trip

Let the digging begin!
Friday, June 5th - Ava and Harper spent the night Thursday so we could leave for our much needed getaway to the beach just as soon as they finished their school work.
We got to the beach house about 1 o'clock, they claimed their beds and we headed straight to the beach since it was beautiful out.
Rielee dug a perfect little hole, just about volleyball size.  Okay, so she's over digging in the sand, she and I played frisbee instead.
After that, we rode bikes to Adelaide's for ice cream

and then to the school playground.
Papa napped through the first ride but we got him out for another ride later.
We watched movies and ate lots of junk food the rest of the night.

Saturday
Saturday morning there were a few sprinkles but then it was pretty nice.
We were back at the beach after breakfast.

Harper found a whole crab and wanted to keep it, when I told her she couldn't,
she buried it and gave it a funeral because "crabs are people, too".
She found lots of shells.
Then we went to Cape Disappointment State Park to see the lighthouse.  We looked for driftwood by the jetty, but couldn't actually get to the lighthouse since the trails were all blocked off.  Papa took them through the remains of Fort Canby though.
Harper got one foot wet climbing on the rocks so Ava gave her a ride to the dry sand.
We visited Marsha's Museum where Rielee impulsively decided she wanted a hermit crab.

"Bernie" got lots of attention.
After playing a couple games of Apples to Apples, we went back to the beach,
and for another bike ride to the playground,
then watched The Call Of The Wild.

Sunday
After breakfast Papa took the girls to the beach while I cleaned the house.
Then we headed home, stopping first at Marsha's again to buy Bernie a companion - "Mernie" (hermit crabs need company).
and then to Funland since there were hardly any people there.
Ava loves the racing games.
Harper and Rielee's had fun at this game.

Last stop - Custard King in Astoria

Such a fun trip!
