Dough competition

Saturday, Baking Competition #2 - They each got half a batch of cardamom dough to shape and decorate, a new experience for them working with dough.  Of course, they both ended up making flowers.  Harper added cinnamon sugar and butter to hers before shaping, so hers had more flavor and she won.
A little rain, okay a lot of rain, couldn't keep them off the swings,
they got in the hot tub afterwards to warm up.
Sunday it was painting, drawing and cards that kept them busy.  We made a quick trip to Dairy Queen and a visit to Pet Co just to look around.  Their future pet wish list:  fish, turtle, hamster, mice, or guinea pig, puppy for Grandma.

We went to Papa Pete's for dinner, they've missed the game room.
Harper had to prove she could still get in the kiddie car.
We also finished the last of the Spider Man movies this weekend.

Rielee came over Monday and played 31 with us, then she taught us the "Poop on your Neighbor" card game.  After that it was Old Maid.  We had a fire pit lunch before she left for volleyball camp and scrimmage.

Rielee at regional track

There was pressure for Rielee at regionals in Kent last Friday.  Lots of girls competing for the few spots left after the top ones were taken by the Moll twins from Olympia (they are the top pole vaulters under 18 in the nation).  But she hung in there and cleared 11 feet to take 4th place.

She's on to State Friday, pole vault is at 9:30 a.m. at Mt. Tahoma H.S.!

Country cousins

The girls were drawing with chalk Saturday when Josie came over.  She just plopped down and started playing.
She laughed so hard at the bubbles and the girls.

We came inside and they played with Play Doh, then Josie asked to go back out.

Then she got a lesson in making a chalk river.
And using the hose.
So much fun, she was stomping back and forth in it until her little white socks weren't so white anymore, sorry Emmy!  She is a Country Cousin!

Back inside for some hoola hooping, blocks, airplane rides,

and general silliness.  Learning from the experts.

Josie, Luke baseball, Rielee district

We had another fun visit with Josie this week.
Wednesday we saw some of Rielee's district javelin competition, she came in 4th, top 3 go to regionals.

We went from track Wednesday over to Clark College to watch Luke's home game.
They lost but it was sure great to see him play.

Cake challenge

Being super fans of baking competition shows, they finally asked if they could do their own cake challenge.
For the first challenge, they could pick their own cake and design.  We did change it up in that they could add or change an ingredient to their box cake mix, Harper chose to add vanilla and Ava added milk instead of water.  We got display boards so they couldn't see what the other was doing.  Of course, they had to decorate those, too.

Harper made her own fondant out of melted marshmallows and powdered sugar, it turned out really well.

It was serious business.

Harper's unicorn's ears are fondant.
Rielee, Des, Gabe and Alan came over to judge the cakes on design, flavor, etc.  The winner was Ava's Spiderman cake, but it a close score, 108-104.

Saturday
Ava had her last soccer game of the season at Harmony.
There was a monsoon happening as the game was starting.  Everyone was soaked, including the fans.

After the game, the team met at the Blind Onion for pizza, then the girls came home with us.
