Auna is a State Champion, Mayfield, cake

Auna standing beside the distance of the throw that won her
a State Championship!  We were so disappointed that we weren't there to watch, but it
sure was exciting (and tense) as Emmy kept us informed of the action via text.  As we waited to hear the final results the girls made some signs to hold up in a congratulatory video we sent her when she won.
One happy winner!

She came over tonight and we heard all about it firsthand, what an incredible day.
(I wanted to see the back of her medal.)

Laury wanted a picture of Auna, her medal, Uncle and the City Sour bread.  Uncle has been buying Auna a loaf of this, her favorite bread, every week since volleyball season.  He said it was good luck,it made her happy and he wasn't going to stop until she graduated, even though she kept telling him he didn't have to do it.

The girls had fun wading in the lake, Ava was in up to her waist.  They found lots of shells and nice rocks.
After all the excitement of Auna winning Saturday we decided to take Des and Gabe up on their invitation to visit them at their lot at Mayfield.  They just got the trailer set up and were spending their first night there.

You can just see Gabe on the lower level where he was building a deck for the kids to set up a tent.
They have a lovely view.  The kids went wading and played some "31".  On the drive home, we stopped at a few
garage sales.
This morning the girls got busy decorating a cake for Auna when she got home.
They worked hard to make it special for her.

Butterflies and paper mache

We picked the girls up early Friday since Harper was having an allergy attack.  We gave her some Benadryl on the way home and she felt better immediately.  They went outside to play and noticed several butterflies and wanted to try to catch one.  I'll be darned if Harper didn't catch one on her first try but then she tripped and it got away before she could look at it.  She caught another one and got a good look at it before it letting it go.  Ava caught one also.
They started on some paper mache animals to enter in the fair.  At first they were put off by how messy the process is, but then it turned into fun.  Ava is making a pig and Harper a penguin.  They put 2 coats on this weekend and will pop the balloons next time.

Rielee district track

Rielee, in the red,  had a great start to her race, only to hit the second hurdle and almost fall.
 She kept going though

and ended up winning!
She also threw the javelin 81', had a PR of 13'9" in the long jump and high jumped 4'.

Time for a quick picture with Mom when she was done, then she was off to volleyball practice.

Snowball parade

Papa was happy when school let out Friday before I got to the back of the school, that way he got all the attention from the girls.

Saturday they went bowling with Rielee, who was voted ASB President of her school on Friday.
Ava was a frustrated bowler, she led up until the last 2 frames, then Rielee got a strike and won.

Saturday night Jillian and Bridget came up for a sleepover  They all had a huge snowball fight, then
decided to fill up their buckets and have a snowball parade.  They went merrily singing along back to the Dolans, sprinkling flowers the entire way.

When they got back, Rielee wanted in on the fun and decided she would drive the Jeep.  The girls filled up their buckets, but then tricked her, sneaking up on her and dumping them over her head!

Parker showed up at just the right time to help Papa on the woodshed today.
It's going up quickly and will be ready for Parker's firewood soon .

Auna district track

Uncle went to watch Auna at her district track meet in Woodland today.  Auna said it was stressful, very windy, but she still took 2nd in the javelin with a throw of 119' 7" and earned a trip to State.

We were very proud of her, especially since she hadn't been feeling well all week.
I watched Rielee at her sub-district meet today in Longview.   She qualified for district in the hurdles, javelin and long-jump.  She was happy about winning the hurdles with a PR of 18.3.

Ava's tooth is out, Mother's day

Ava had an extra tooth in between her two front teeth.  Previous attempts to have it removed had failed, it was just too traumatic for her.  This time they went to a different dentist and she was given tranquilizers to relax her and IV sedation during the procedure and it all went well.

At home- recovering and watching Paddington 2.
She face timed me later and was super chatty, telling me all about her dental adventure.  She was especially amazed at the way it looked like Mom had 2 heads and Dad had 3 eyes after she took those pills.
She recuperated quickly and only needed Tylenol afterwards.  So glad she has that ordeal behind her.
The tooth fairy left her $4 for the tooth.

Friday after track practice, Rielee went to Pollen and took a lesson from Jason on how to make a hand-tied bouquet for Mother's Day.
She added lots of lilacs because it's one of her Mom's favorites.  It turned out beautifully and took all of about 5 minutes.

Ava was back to her old self Saturday so she and Harper came up to spend the night.  Rielee had been with us since Wednesday since Des and Gabe were on a business trip till today.  They spent the day drawing, playing outside, and, oh boy, it's snowball season,  a favorite time for the girls.   I had a knock on the door-there was Ava with two handfuls of snowballs behind her back, she yells "SNOWBALL FIGHT" and got me good!
We had planned a fire pit but it was so hot out, we decided pizza would be better.  Ava was so cute, I ordered her an olive pizza and she was thrilled, the girl loves olives.  She managed to eat it without hurting her stitches.   She asked for a fire pit when we got home just for marshmallows.  It was a disaster, so much wind we could barely sit there, everyone kept getting smoked out and having to jump up and move.  Marshmallows kept getting burnt and falling off,  we finally gave it up.

Harper and Rielee posed for me between games and pizza.

Since Gabe and Des weren't supposed to be getting home till later tonight, we took Parker and Rielee to Parker's for dinner.  The place was packed for Mother's Day and service started out terribly, but we managed to laugh it off and had a great time since we ended up with our favorite waiter.  Gabe and Des got there just as we were finishing our meals,  too, so we got to hear about their trip to New Orleans.
