Birdhouses, drones

Papa cut out birdhouses this week for the girls to build.  They got to use the drill and
got lots of practice with the hammer.  I let them video each other, slow motion was their favorite.
They spent a long time painting their houses.  We'll add sealer this week and they can put them up next time they're here.
We had a fun weekend, they built a blanket fort Saturday night and played games and legos.  Sunday we went to the playgrounds in town and had coffee and ice cream at the Vault.  Papa bought them drones so they practiced in the house with them.  It was so funny, they all struggled at first and the drones were crashing right and left and we were all ducking like mad.  Then Ava studied the instructions and started figuring it out.

Today they tried them out in the field, Harper's first flight started out great but then it got away from her and we thought we had lost it forever in the woods over by Alan's.  She was so upset but Alan later found it lying upside down in his front yard, we just didn't look far enough.

Ava had better luck, she kept it close to her and made several flights until her battery died.  She felt bad for Harper though and offered her drone to her, but Harper was too upset to try it again.
On our way to meet Charb we stopped at a lapidary in Kalama.  The owner was very nice and gave the girls each 10 free stones and also gave Harper a large green rock she liked.  He said he hopes to encourage kids to be rock hounds.  He wasn't even going to charge for a rock I wanted but Papa made him take some money for it.
