Glitter slime

The girls came up Thursday night since they day Friday off.  They had fun making glitter slime, we borrowed
some contact lens solution from Auna to use (instead of borax) and it turned out a lot better.
Friday afternoon we went to see Paddington 2, it was cute, the girls and I gave it 4 out of  5 stars, Papa gave it 5 stars because he didn't fall asleep.
They got to play at Rielee's Saturday morning.  Ava suffered a fall off the hover board and scraped her foot because, according to  Harper - Rielee was making her bed and stacked the blankets on Ava's head?
Des took the kids to the Vault for a "buy 2, get one free" book sale and they also visited the bakery.

Oil pastels

Emmy came to visit this morning, she got some big hugs from Ava and Harper.
Rielee came over to play, too.

The girls with a small sampling of today's drawings.
Harper asked us for some oil pastels, the girl loves to draw.  So does Ava and that's about all they did this weekend.
We had art contests all morning, drawing sunsets, beach scenes, flowers, valentine houses and science scenes (winner-Ava).  Rielee joined in and Emmy added the chicken.  It was fun, with a lots of laughs as we struggled to come up with something from our imaginations.  We tried to draw parrots but Rielee's ended up looking  like a winged squirrel, she was struggling so I let her use her phone to do and underwater ocean scene, she won that round and was happy.  They were good sports, especially when I won in the "senior" division or was disqualified for having a talking fish..  Papa was a good judge, pointing out something special he liked in each drawing.   They started the weekend with an 80 sheet sketch pad and used all but 6 sheets.

Ava's new teeth, Rielee volleyball tournament

Ava wearing the new teeth she got at the classroom store, she bought them with a sticker she earned for getting 20 points for good behavior.  When Papa picked them up Friday, he said as they were walking back to the car, Ava put in the teeth and said "look Papa, I haven't brushed my teeth all week!"  Harper used her sticker to get a "desk buddy"- she can bring a stuffed animal to sit on her desk for a day.

Rielee's Aces Elite volleyball team won their tournament at Mark Morris today.  It was Rielee's first time playing outside in club ball and she played great,  I think she had 8 kills in the championship match.  Papa said it's like watching Macee all over again.

Birdhouses, drones

Papa cut out birdhouses this week for the girls to build.  They got to use the drill and
got lots of practice with the hammer.  I let them video each other, slow motion was their favorite.
They spent a long time painting their houses.  We'll add sealer this week and they can put them up next time they're here.
We had a fun weekend, they built a blanket fort Saturday night and played games and legos.  Sunday we went to the playgrounds in town and had coffee and ice cream at the Vault.  Papa bought them drones so they practiced in the house with them.  It was so funny, they all struggled at first and the drones were crashing right and left and we were all ducking like mad.  Then Ava studied the instructions and started figuring it out.

Today they tried them out in the field, Harper's first flight started out great but then it got away from her and we thought we had lost it forever in the woods over by Alan's.  She was so upset but Alan later found it lying upside down in his front yard, we just didn't look far enough.

Ava had better luck, she kept it close to her and made several flights until her battery died.  She felt bad for Harper though and offered her drone to her, but Harper was too upset to try it again.
On our way to meet Charb we stopped at a lapidary in Kalama.  The owner was very nice and gave the girls each 10 free stones and also gave Harper a large green rock she liked.  He said he hopes to encourage kids to be rock hounds.  He wasn't even going to charge for a rock I wanted but Papa made him take some money for it.

Carpenters, hoverboard

I found Ava this morning with a handful of screws, nails, screwdrivers and a hammer.  She wanted to build something, anything.  So Papa brought in a box of wood scraps and they went to work.

It went surprisingly well, she kept adding pieces and ended up with a birdhouse.  She kept working and made a stand for it and a "runway" too.

Harper was busy also, she made a little house for her balloon baby Maia.

This was their Friday night bingo game, they like being the caller better than playing.

We went to feed the chickens last night and Rielee showed us her hover board.  Harper could have played on it all night.  Rielee wanted to give Harper a ride before we left but that seemed dangerous so they just posed for me.

Ava got to try it out today, they all  played on it for a long time, taking 1 minute turns.
It's fun, at least for them, Papa and I just had to try it and fell on our butts almost instantly.  It lights up and Rielee can connect it to her music and monitor it with her phone.
