Trick-or-Treaters

Charb and Kelly sent pictures of Ava and Harper with friend Jason (and the other Jason) as they went trick-or-treating at Union.  How nice to have a dry place to get candy.  Ava was a Power Ranger and Harper was Ariel.
Rielee was an 80's girl, she was so excited to wear false eyelashes-
and they looked spectacular on her!
Bridget the angel, Spider Girl Jillian and Spiderman Tor also came to see us, they looked so cute!

Lexi's Senior night

Lexi and family being introduced at Union Volleyball's Senior Night tonight.  Ava is there in the back, I can see her boot...
They lost in 4 to Battleground, Lexi played so well, it was really fun to watch.
There's Ava, and Papa Mike with Lexi, too.

Graveyard

Checking out the graveyard this morning, Ava and Harper liked the skeletons best.

Playing school

"If I call your name, please come down to the Principal's office NOW!"  said Ava-Principal of Coweeman Middle School, into her pretend intercom and then Rielee, her secretary, read another list of names and told the pretend troublemakers "one at a time sit in that chair!"  Troublemaker Katie, who was in the office for not listening to the teacher, got a detention slip for 1 month.  Ava told her she could read a book or sit quietly and do nothing.  There were a lot of troubled kids in their school, 7 kids from the Art class alone.  Harper played along for awhile but left to take a bath by herself.  When she got back, she took over as Principal.  At one point, I was the bad kid and they said I would have to be home-schooled...
Ava later showed me her notebook and said with exasperation "it's really hard to work with kids!" then she left for her second job as a cook.

Ava said she wants to be a Principal, cook, and artist when she grows up.  Rielee wants to be a teacher or maybe a Principal.  Harper wants to be an artist.

Emmy's classroom, Parker's game vs. Heritage

Friday Laury and I helped in Emmy's classroom with a Halloween craft.  Laury had pre-cut shapes for the kid's to make monsters.  When the kids came in from recess, Emmy had them sit on the carpet and gave them instructions on the craft and how the monsters should look, well, like monsters basically.  Then they got a chance to ask questions, some of which were quite cute.
It was fun to see how seriously they took the design of their monsters, and how differently they all looked.  The little girl on the right made my favorite, hers looked just like a snowman.
From there we went to Vancouver to watch Kelso play Heritage at McKenzie Stadium, it was the 4:30 game.  Charb, Kelly, Luke and the twins came, too.  Ava and Harper were proudly wearing their Union I.D. badges, which state that they are "pre-freshman".
Parker kicked some nice punts and Kelso won in the last minute, it was a fun game.
A cute Mother-Son picture, I think they look so much alike.

Purple girl

Ava was feeling cute all dressed in purple Sunday as she helped me make snickerdoodles.  Harper and Rielee came to help, too, but only to be tasters, they love cookie dough.
This sign appeared on the fridge after Papa messed up tonight and put the ice cream away in the cupboard instead of the freezer.  When we finally found it, Ava suggested they could have ice cream soup, but they decided to try re-freezing it and I said they could have a little after breakfast tomorrow.  They had to keep Papa out of it, that's for sure.
Papa got a chuckle when he went to check on them after they went to bed, they asked if they could have a TV in their room.

Auna, Emmy volleyball

Auna's super effort in their win over White Salmon earned her this award!
Uncle was doing lines and Emmy coached for Kalama as they played and beat CR tonight,
a tough loss for Auna and teammates, and I know it's no fun for Emmy either.

Parker football, new dresses

Parker, #45, at the beginning of the JV game Monday against WF West.  It was an interesting game, the starting quarterback was out with a concussion, and the back-up struggled a little.  Parker did a lot of good punting and kicked a field goal, but they lost.
While searching the thrift stores this week for Halloween costume ideas, I found Ava and Harper a couple of dresses for play.  They liked them a lot and were happy, for a change, to pose for a picture.
Then they rode their scooters and did some swinging.  Harper wasn't quite done posing.

Legos

Ava got the Legos down to play with yesterday and Harper and Rielee quickly joined her.  Rielee just loves the Lego Friends sets and reads at home to earn points to be able to buy more of them.  The three girls have been so silly lately, seems they are always breaking into fits of uncontrollable giggles, which sure livens up the house.

Parent night

We met Charb, Kelly and the girls at their school Thursday night for Parent Night.  We learned about their 1st grade curriculum and classroom procedures.  The girls showed us their desks and sat quietly during the presentation.  Afterwards, they came home with us since today there was no school.
The dynamic duo and their new capes and masks, looking tough.
Ava's library book this week is "Green Eggs and Ham" and wow, she is so proud that she can read it all, every word,  by herself.  She loves Dr. Suess, so Papa took the she and Harper to the library today and they checked out 3 more.  Emmy came over to visit this afternoon and the first thing Ava did was to show her how well she could read her book.

Rielee's girls

Rielee is staying with us while Mom and Dad are out of town, so Ava and Harper came up for 2 nights this weekend to help keep her busy.  The three of them had a great time, playing Barbies, games, dress-up, baking cupcakes and playing outside.  Each night, Rielee read books to them, pretending she was the Mom.  Surprisingly, they all slept together quite well.

Auna's bun

The changing nature of Auna's hair during her volleyball matches is cute.  She is often adjusting and readjusting it between points, during timeouts, and between sets.  It was even mentioned in the program-when asked something unique about herself, she said it was her inability to put her hair in a ponytail (at least one that will stay!).
Auna's bun at the start of a game...

and at the end.
She was playing hard in this match Thursday against White Salmon-they beat them in 5 for their first win.  She had 27 kills, 15 assists, 14 digs, and 8 blocks-so wild and crazy hair is a good thing for her.
