Ava’s cast

Ava got her pink cast today.  She said it felt very weird when they took the splint off, and hurt when they moved her arm.  I was surprised that her arm was still swollen.

She’ll have this cast on for 2 weeks, then get a short cast below her elbow.  That’s when she can return to playing soccer.  She’ll wear the short one for 3 weeks.
She said lots of kids signed her cast when she got back to school.

Rielee v'ball, Ava flamingo hat, box cars, Parker & Kendall

Saturday the girls came up and we watched Rielee play in the Mark Morris Challenge, they won all their matches but lost to Woodland in the championship.

We stopped at Target where Ava found a Halloween flamingo hat, she really wanted it but then decided she wanted to dress up in something scary instead.

They got to play with the Woodruff kids, Ava and Jillian tried making slime but were being so silly it didn't turn out very well.

Sunday Papa got the girls some boxes to make cars, it kept them busy most of the afternoon.

Rielee came over to hang out with the girls and we all went to see Parker and Kendall's shop progress.  They painted and put down some laminate in their entry way.  Ava was happy but obviously didn't get the message to smile.

Emmy’s birthday

Laury and David had cake and ice cream for Emmy’s 28th birthday tonight.
Of course we had to get a cousin picture first.

They celebrated a day early since Em has a volleyball match in Mossyrock tomorrow night.
28, how can she be 28??

Ava legos

Ava knew that playing with small legos with one hand would be difficult but she had fun with the large ones.  Her arm doesn’t hurt anymore and she’s looking forward to going back to school.

Ava's broken arm

Ava fell today while playing "Sharks and Minnows" ( a game that sounds a lot like flag football) at lunch recess and broke her arm.  It was very painful.  Mom first took her to Kaiser Urgent Care, but after looking at it they sent her to Legacy Salmon Creek.  She was in the Short Stay Pediatric Unit.
I brought my iPad to entertain Harper while we waited.  Ava was very brave.  She struggled a bit with the IV and also when they needed to measure her arm for the hard splint.  She didn't want to bend her arm for fear the IV would hurt.
Fortunately, they had Harper's arm to measure, and she was glad to help out.

Getting lots of love and attention from Mom and Dad as she was waking up from the anesthesia.
She kept saying "can I go home now?" and "is my arm broken?" and she said everyone looked like they had two heads.
She'll have the splint on until the swelling goes down, then she'll get a cast, in pink.

Posing with Papa afterwards.

Harper's fall ball, leaf painting

Harper on third-she hit a single in her first fall ball game Saturday, she came in and scored with the next batter.
She got lots of experience at different positions, playing first, second, third, and short stop.
Her team’s name is unique-“Red Hot Sauce”-a name Harper suggested and the team voted for.
Luke was home for the weekend, the girls were sure happy to see him.

Ava painted her leaf to resemble her favorite one-a polka dot plant leaf, of course.

Rielee's first high school game

Rielee's first high school match was Thursday at Mark Morris.
She played libero and said she was a nervous at first, not used to playing in front of the loud Kelso cheering section.

She played great though and they won it in 4.

Rielee jamboree

Kelso’s volleyball jamboree was at Union Thursday.  We picked up Ava and Harper after school  and took them with us to watch Rielee.  Charb and Kelly met us there after work.
Kelso won all their games.

Rielee played libero and had a great night on defense and served 7 aces.
Ava decided she needed to cheer for her after she scored her first two aces.

leaves, Ava and Harper's first day

The girls tried concrete leaf casting last weekend,

they were happy with the results.

1st day of 5th grade at Dorothy Fox,
they were so excited for school to start.
